CIPH Plans Habitat for Humanity Week

TORONTO - The Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) announced it will sponsor a week in September to support Habitat for Humanity Canada (HFHC). CIPH HFH Week will be held Sept. 18-24, 2011.

CIPH has been a partner of Habitat for Humanity Canada for 16 years and has provided, through its members, $6.3 million in cash and products to HFHC and its affiliates. CIPH is now one of Habitat for Humanity Canada’s largest contributing partners.

Since 1994, Habitat for Humanity affiliates have built over 1,000 homes for families in need. CIPH and its members have been key supporters in helping affiliates achieve this level of growth in Canada, but the work is not yet complete. By partnering with Habitat for Humanity Canada, CIPH is taking a hands-on, active approach to improving Canadian communities - one family at a time.

HFH Week is a fundraising week selected by the Charity Committee where CIPH members across Canada can participate in many ways by raising money for local Habitat affiliates. All money raised can be directed to a local Habitat affiliate of the member’s choice to help families in members’ communities.

To get involved, CIPH members simply need to plan a fundraiser during the week of Sept. 18-24, 2011. It is recommended that members appoint a fundraising team at their company to plan and execute the event. Suggestions for fundraisers include: a bake sale, car wash, 50/50 raffles, or a customer breakfast or BBQ. For help planning an event, contact Nancy Barden at barden@sympatico.ca.

“CIPH members have generously donated more than $170,000, which has been raised during the past five CIPH HFH Weeks. The money given to local Habitat for Humanity Affiliates helps Canadian families realize the dream of owning their own home. This is truly an amazing industry achievement,” said Charity Committee chairman John Hammill (Moen).
