BOSTON - Cimetrics Inc. has formed a technology and marketing alliance with Lantronix Inc. to bring new IP and Web service solutions to the building automation market via the Lantronix XPortâ„¢ module.

Cimetrics said it will implement the module in its Native IP and Eplus product lines, and will sell a BACnet-enabled XPort module for OEMs. The XPort is a compact, embedded device server that offers a highly integrated Ethernet hardware solution, and which also enables Cimetrics BACstacâ„¢ protocol stack. Setup is done using a browser setup screen so that control and monitoring of BACnet devices can be done without needing to know BACnet protocol, Cimetrics said.

"We're very pleased that Cimetrics has chosen the XPort as the core platform for developing its new IP-based product line," said Marc Nussbaum, chief executive officer of Lantronix. "OEMs and end users seeking effective Web-based building automation solutions can now get powerful products that combine the leading embedded device server on the market with the leading BACnet software."
