CHICAGO — In honor of the 2012 AHR Expo, the world’s largest HVACR event, Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed Jan. 23-25 Airconditioning, Heating, and Refrigerating Week in Chicago.

Recognizing the AHR Expo as the premier resource for HVACR professionals, the proclamation urges Chicagoans to support initiatives aimed at providing HVACR professionals with the best resource for new products, ideas, and services.

Taking place Jan. 23-25 at McCormick Place Convention Center, the 2012 event will be AHR Expo’s largest show in its 82-year history, with nearly 2,000 exhibitors and more than 50,000 attendees worldwide. In addition to the thousands of new products and technologies being exhibited, more than 100 educational sessions will be offered during the week. The annual exposition and conference rotates among the country’s major cities, and Chicago has been the site of some of AHR’s largest events.

The proclamation also recognizes AHR Expo for the $12,000 contribution it will make to a Chicago charity, which comes from the entry fees exhibitors pay to enter the 2012 AHR Expo Innovation Awards program. Since the inception of the Innovation Awards program 10 years ago, AHR Expo has donated more than $100,000 to charitable organizations.

“We are honored to be recognized by Mayor Emanuel and the city of Chicago for the service we provide to the HVACR industry and the contributions we make to the city of Chicago,” said Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Co., which produces and manages the AHR Expo.

The 2012 AHR Expo is co-sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) is an honorary sponsor.
