CHC and AHAC Merge Member Services

The Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC) and the Alberta Hydronics Advisory Council (AHAC) announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will allow CHC to take over AHAC’s membership services.

The official signing took place during a CHC breakfast held at the Foothills Conference and Hydronics Show in Edmonton, Alberta. Sean Giberson, CHC membership chair, opened the event by stating, “Today marks a day in history in which two great industry organizations come together for the greater good. Today, AHAC and CHC … merge their member services to form an even stronger voice. Today, this voice emerges and yet we retain the regional effectiveness on the ground of the Alberta region.”

According to the organizations, this alignment will bring the weight of national and provincial forces to bear on any Alberta hydronics issues with the reciprocated benefit of CHC’s national direction being formulated with broadened local input.

Giberson also took time to pay tribute to the pioneers of AHAC and noted the immense contribution they have made to the industry since the organization’s inception in 1994.

AHAC will continue to exist as an organization, but key member issues such as regional training and codes and standards issues will be managed via CHC’s two regions in Edmonton and Calgary. All AHAC members are invited to join their respective region’s Hydronics Committee with the goal of continued influence in growing the hydronics market. AHAC will determine the next steps for Foothills; the conference and trade show were not part of the MOU.

The MOU was signed at the event by CHC’s Chairman Leo Vaillancourt and AHAC’s President, Dan Arnold.

The Canadian Hydronics Council is a Council within the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating. CHC’s mission is to promote the responsible growth and contribute to the prosperity of its members and their customers in the hydronic heating industry.
