OTTAWA — Canada reintroduced its Energy Star® specifications for gas-fired forced air furnaces, Feb. 1. Only models that have been third-party certified as meeting Version 3.0 or Version 4.0 requirements will appear on the Energy Star qualified product list.
The latest Version 3.0 specifications include a minimum 95 percent AFUE and 2 percent fan efficiency requirement. Only current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-recognized certification bodies may certify furnaces to Version 3.0 or 4.0.
