Bush Signs Tax Cut; NAW Shows Its Support

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President George W. Bush signed into law today the largest tax cut package in two decades. The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) was on hand for the signing, which took place on the South Lawn of the White House this morning. NAW has been a supporter of the Bush tax cut. In February, the organization joined the National Federation of Independent Business, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to create the Tax Relief Coalition to advocate the passage of the tax cut package. The coalition grew to include over 1,000 members from 1.7 million businesses. “With the President’s signature on this bill, a very important first step towards full tax relief is accomplished. This is a very strong down payment,” said NAW president Dirk Van Dongen. “Bipartisan support for the President’s package was greatly encouraged by the involvement of grassroots businessmen and women in the legislative process. ‘Inside the Beltway’ folks in this coalition brought back-home political firepower to the table, and that was key.”
