BOCA to Hold 85th Annual Conference

Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA) is preparing for its 85th annual conference. This year’s conference will include code development hearings, professional development training for code enforcement and fire service officials, construction professionals, invited speaker presenta-tions, and a trade show. The event will take place September 18-21 in Rochester, New York.

Code hearings begin at 2:30 p.m., Sept. 19 and address several topics including International building, residential, fire, energy conservation, fuel gas and more. Preconference activities begin on Sept. 16 with a workshop: “Increasing the Credibility of the Code Official.”

Other highlights include a series of seven seminars presented by BOCA staff entitled “Transition to the International Codes.”

Invited speakers will also cover such topics as Product Approval and the International Codes, standardization in Engineered Wood Products, and IBC Fire Protection. Finally, the conference will feature a Crackerbarrel, a series of roundtable discussions of eight to 10 people led by a presenter, covering 40 topics, moving from table to table every 25 minutes.
