Blackman Announces Four New Appointments

BAYPORT, N.Y. - Blackman Plumbing Supply, a leading distributor of plumbing, heating, and cooling supplies, has announced four staff appointments.

• Brian Sarno has been appointed to the newly created position of national accounts sales manager.

He started his career with Grainger Industrial Supply as a district sales manager responsible for the Maintenance, Repair, and Operation business in the Tennessee, eastern Kentucky ,and western North Carolina area. While at Grainger, he was promoted to the position of corporate sales manager where he was responsible for telecommunications, health care and several manufacturers. In 2004, he left Grainger to become the vice president of sales for the Tranzonic Co. where he was charged with increasing sales and developing new national account business. He accepted the position of vice president of sales at Interline Brands in 2006 where he focused on key vertical markets such as health care, hospitality, and government opportunities.

Sarno will be based out of a remote office in Maryland in conjunction with being based out of Blackman’s headquarters on Long Island in Bayport, N.Y.

• Sean Mulderig has been promoted to the newly created position of regional sales manager - east.

He most recently served as regional manager where he focused on sales and helping the former Ridgewood Corp. personnel become acclimated. Prior to that, he served as the branch manager for Blackman’s Southampton Branch from 2004 to 2008. He started his career with Blackman in purchasing where he worked from 1996 to 2004 having reached the level of senior product manager.

Mulderig will continue to work out of Blackman’s headquarters on Long Island in Bayport, N.Y.

• Tom Carney has been promoted to the newly created position of senior account manager.

He came to Blackman Plumbing Supply through the acquisition of Ridgewood Corp., where he most recently served as senior VP/sales and marketing. He first joined Ridgewood Corp. in August 1998 as HVAC division manager. Prior to working at Ridgewood, he was employed for 16 years with Montgomery Engineering, a New Jersey Carrier HVAC distributor that was eventually purchased by Carleton-Stuart Corp. before becoming what is now Carrier Northeast. At Carleton-Stuart Corp., Carney served as tri-state sales manager, with responsibilities for the Carrier/Bryant/Payne brands.

• Fenton J. Harpster has been appointed to the newly created position of regional sales manager - west.

He previously worked for Ferguson Enterprises for 11 years in various positions at locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. He most recently served as branch manager of Ferguson’s Jersey City location. He has a diverse background in pipe, valves, and fittings (PVF) and commercial plumbing sales and distribution operations.
