Aug. 31, 2005: Albuquerque To Host 2006 Green Building Conference

WASHINGTON - Home builders will gather in Albuquerque, N.M., for the 2006 National Green Building Conference, scheduled for March 12-14, 2006. Hosted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the organization says the conference will help builders meet the increased consumer demand for resource-efficient, green homes.

"Builders in Albuquerque have already made significant progress in developing an impressive number of green-built homes," said Ray Tonjes, chairman of NAHB's Green Building Subcommittee. "We are thrilled to highlight the work of local green builders, as well as homes built in accordance with NAHB's voluntary Model Green Home Building Guidelines, as more and more of our members start to build green."

The conference, with the theme of "Greening the American Dream," will provide a forum for attendees to network with like-minded colleagues and attend educational sessions on green building topics. Sessions will address building science, design, marketing, and other subjects for both green building specialists and mainstream home builders. Builders can also learn about NAHB's voluntary Model Green Home Building Guidelines, developed to encourage market-driven green home building practices and the formation of additional local programs by home builders associations in parts of the country not currently served by ongoing initiatives. All educational sessions will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to tour green home building projects throughout the Albuquerque area.

NAHB is inviting home builders, remodelers, developers, nonprofits, academics, industry experts, and others engaged in green building to submit program proposals for consideration as sessions at the 2006 National Green Building Conference. To do so, visit www.nahb.org/isesProgram_select.aspx. The deadline is Sept. 9, 2005.

More information on the National Green Building Conference is available at www.nahb.org/greenbuilding. To learn more about NAHB's Model Green Home Building Guidelines, go to www.nahb.org/gbg.
