Aug. 30, 2010: HVACR Apprenticeship Manuals Available From ACCA

ARLINGTON, Va. - Contractors, schools, and association chapters around the country are involved in workforce development through apprenticeship programs for the HVACR industry. To help develop professional technicians, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC), and the Refrigeration Engineers Service Society (RSES) have collaborated with Delmar and Cengage Learning to produce a comprehensive four-year textbook series.

The first three apprenticeship manuals - HVACR 101, HVACR 201, and HVACR 301 - are available for sale direct from ACCA. Developed by industry experts with oversight by working HVACR professionals, the textbooks begin with simple concepts and build to more complex procedures. Each book acts as a building block for the student to move to the next in the series.

Some of the features for the student include: use of basic language and common terminology used in the HVACR field; detailed pictures, graphs, and tables; and real-world examples to encourage thinking beyond the text. There is also a supplement for instructors that includes: PowerPoint presentation slides, an image library, and a bank of test questions for each chapter.

To learn more about the ACCA/PHCC/RSES apprenticeship textbooks and to purchase them direct from ACCA, visit www.acca.org/apprenticeship or call 888-290-2220.
