Aug. 25, 2009: Johnstone Supply Now Handles Distribution of ecobee Smart Thermostat

TORONTO - ecobee, maker of the ecobee Smart Thermostat, announced that it has finalized a distribution agreement with Johnstone Supply Inc., a leading HVACR wholesale distributor. The Smart Thermostat is now being sold at Johnstone branches throughout the United States, served by its five regional distribution centers.

“This agreement will greatly enhance our distribution efforts and build sales, as well as increasing our market presence in the HVAC industry,” said Stuart Lombard, ecobee’s CEO and founder.

According to ecobee, the Smart Thermostat is simple to install and offers a full-color touch screen and easy-to-use interface. The unit’s WiFi capability allows users to control all functions remotely, from anywhere, at anytime, through a customer Web portal.

The company has also created a dedicated technician portal so technicians can remotely manage and update ecobee thermostats online, either one at a time or as a group. Additional features include the ability to schedule maintenance and filter change reminders, low and high temperature alerts, and also input business information and company logos which will appear on customers’ thermostats and Web portals.

“We are very excited to introduce the ecobee Smart Thermostat to our customers,” said Steve Porter, director of marketing, Johnstone Supply. “This is where energy management is headed, and ecobee has gotten there before anyone else. In addition to serving as a thermostat, this product provides users the means to manage their energy usage. Technicians will want to sell it because it is so easy to use and it’s a product that will build customer relationships. We are delighted to include it in our nationwide inventory.”
