Associations for the Week: September 3, 2001

  • ExxonMobil has arranged for GE Capital Corp. to issue ExxonMobil Fleet Cards to members of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC). The card offers a discount on fuel purchases at more than 14,000 Exxon and Mobil fueling locations.
  • Excellence Alliance, Inc. (EAI) (Hebron, KY) has recently added new members. They include Hurst Industries in Belmont, MI; Gillette Air Conditioning, San Antonio, TX; and Soefker Services, LLC, Memphis, TN.
  • The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) (Washington, DC) has appointed Steven V. Hall as its new director of government affairs.
  • The Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) (Cocoa, FL) recently presented its 2001 Builder Leadership Award to Melbourne, FL-based Joyal Construction for building the highest energy-rated Central Florida homes this year.
  • The Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) (Des Plaines, IL) announced the addition of Computer Process Controls (CPC) to its Partners in Education® oem information campaign. This partnership provides RSES members with access to information and product cutsheets for CPC’s equipment.
  • The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Con-tractors’ National Association (SMACNA) (Chantilly, VA) has made a free technical paper available. The paper reviews SMACNA’s “HVAC Duct Construction Standards — Metal and Flexible,” second edition, 1995. The paper also reviews specifications and requirements for zinc coating on galvanized steel ducts. To download the complete report, go to www.smacna.org (website).
  • The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC) (Falls Church, VA) has hired John M. Schulte as its new technical/apprenticeship director to oversee the association’s apprenticeship and training programs.
