• The American Consulting Engineers Council (ACEC) (San Antonio, TX) voted unanimously to change its name to the American Council of Engineering Companies. According to the organization, the change will better reflect its commitment to business interests and government relations.

  • The Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI) (Arlington, VA) has elected Daniel W. Holmes as chairman of the board of directors. Holmes is currently chairman and chief executive of Morrison Products, Inc. Other appointments include Thomas E. Bettcher as first vice chairman, Jonathan W. Ayers as second vice chairman, and Gary L. Tapella as immediate past chairman. Also elected were eight vice presidents: Scott Boxer, Ralph Coppola, Debbie Hawkins, Joseph R. Humphrey, David J. Huntley, David J. LaGrand, David Pannier, and John H. Reilly. Finally, Robert Wilkins was elected treasurer.
