The Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) of Chicago has established a new career center on its website for those interested in learning about careers in the piping industry. The “Career Opportunities” area at www.mca.org lists opportunities available through the MCA/Local Union 597 apprenticeship program.

Bill Jones of Raven Mechanical (Houston, TX) was elected the chairman of Construction Contractors’ Alliance (CCA) at a Feb. 23, 2001 trustee meeting.

Excellence Alliance, Inc. (EAI) announces that Canoga Park Heating & Air Conditioning (Canoga Park, CA) has joined the organization.

The International Exposition Company (Westport, CT) announces that the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigerating (AHR) Expo-Mexico is moving from Monterrey, Mexico to Mexico City at the Palacio de los Deportes Sept. 25-27, 2001. Endorsing organizations include the Air Movement and Control Association International, Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association, Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada, and Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. In addition, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers will conduct an educational conference.

At the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) conference in Las Vegas, NV during February, ACCA recognized nine contractors with three awards.

The 2001 CNA Fleet Safety Award winner is: — Howard Lipman of Indoor Comfort Group, Inc. (Nashville, TN).

The 2000 P&H Marketing Safety Award of Excellence winners are: — 0-60,000 man-hours category, Bay Temperature Control (Bay Town, TX);

— 60,001-100,000 man-hours category, Jackson and Sons (Dudley, NC);

— 100,001-200,000 man-hours category, Thayer Group (Auburn, ME); and

— Over 200,001 man-hours category, Fitzgerald Contractors (Shreveport, LA).

ACCA’s Safety Award of Merit was given to: — 0-60,000 man-hours category, Finney Refrigeration (Canton, OH);

— 60,001-100,000 man-hours category, Falk Technical Service Corp. (New York, NY);
