  • The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (Rockville, MD) recently welcomed 22 new member firms from the Joliet, IL, area. The companies joined through the efforts of Thomas W. Dardis, executive director for the Plumbing, Heating, Piping and Refrigeration Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties.

  • The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada’s (HRAI’s) (Mississauga, ON, Canada) 2002 CMS award for educational achievement was presented to Randy Ledrew of St. Philips, Newfoundland, for obtaining the highest mark on the RSES-Canada Commercial Refrigeration Specialist Examination for 2001.

  • The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International (New York, NY) has released the Companion Guide to the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code: Criteria and Commentary on Select Aspects of the ASME Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Piping Codes.   • The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC) (Falls Church, VA) has set June 1, 2002, as the application deadline for Delta Awards.   • The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) (Quincy, MA) presented two awards at its World Safety Conference & Exposition in Minneapolis, MN. Irving Mande, P.E., was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to the association, while Donald W. Belles, P.E., was presented with the Standards Medal for outstanding contributions to fire safety in the development of codes and standards.
