• Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Institute (ARTI) is seeking volunteers for its Hvacr “Research for the 21st Century” (21-CR) program. The industry/government research collaboration includes five different subcommittees: alternative equipment, equipment energy efficiency, system integration, indoor environmental quality, and working fluids.
  • Excellence Alliance, Inc. (EAI) held its Year 2000 Annual Executive meeting in Boca Raton, FL, where the EAI Mechanical Contractor of the Year Award was presented to Dan Thayer and David Reed of Thayer Corporation (Auburn, ME). Additionally, EAI gave awards by region to: Temperature Service Company, Inc. (East Central Region); Mallory & Evans Service, Inc. (Southeast Region); Baete Forseth, Inc. (North Central Region); Scottco Mechanical, Inc. (South Central Region); Entek Corporation (Western Region); and Thayer Corporation (Northeast Region).
  • The Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), and the Mechanical Electrical Sheet Metal Alliance sponsored the 2000 Construction Alliance National Issues Conference. The conference focused included 300 one-on-one meetings with national legislators and staff, focusing on the importance of a trained workforce, quality contractor selection, and prevailing wages.
