April 9, 2004: CADD Version Of Sheet Metal Manual Available

CHANTILLY, Va. - An updated CADD version of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association's (SMACNA's) Architectural Sheet Metal Manual is now available. The new CD provides users with illustrations from the sixth edition of the manual for use in design specifications.

The CADD Version 2.0 CD contains 169 figures in DXF format that illustrate the best practices in architectural sheet metal work, says SMACNA. Architects and designers are encouraged to use this resource to ensure that their specifications are consistent with the SMACNA design details.

Also included on the CD is a copy of the sixth edition of the Architectural Sheet Metal Manual in PDF format. According to the association, this expanded 496-page PDF emphasizes increased quality control for detailing and the expansion of model specifications for designers. A primer on metal application and specifications, it provides a comprehensive set of recommended practices for proper design and installation of custom-fabricated architectural sheet metal, says SMACNA. A new historical restoration section plus commentary on oil canning is also included.

The price of the CADD update is $761. Architects and engineers may purchase it at the discounted price of $533. To order, visit www.smacna.org/bookstore.
