April 4, 2006: AGC Launches New Edition of Contract Document Software

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) has launched DocuBuilder® 5.0, the latest edition of its electronic document software application. For the first time, AGC offers 100 of its standard form contract documents via software download application from its Website.

"DocuBuilder 5.0 helps meet the increasing 24/7 needs of AGC members and their project partners - it saves time that can be used to focus on other areas of their businesses," said AGC CEO Stephen E. Sandherr. "This software is designed for the whole project team, from owners and design professionals to general and specialty contractors, and their legal counsels."

The most popular new feature of DocuBuilder 5.0 is Meter Mode, which enables customers to purchase AGC contract documents in electronic form in $50 increments. Customers who prefer a discounted price for frequent use and printing of AGC documents in electronic form have the option to purchase annual subscriptions, also available as a downloadable application from the site.

Other new features include:

  • Content from the AGC Contract Documents Handbook, published by Aspen Publishers, in electronic notes next to applicable provisions of the AGC documents, at no additional cost;

  • New standard form documents, including one request-for-information form and three revised construction management agency documents;

  • Software registration via the Internet;

  • An updated State Law Matrix of construction laws and regulations, available with separate subscription; and

  • An extensive updated help system online.

    According to AGC, DocuBuilder builds on five years of providing an efficient and cost-effective way to draft project legal agreements, administrative forms, exhibits, and amendments. The software continues to offer a choice between printing a document comparison (redline) or a clean document; LAN installation ability that allows the program to be accessible to everyone on the server; and file transfer capability that lets users share drafts and reach agreement on a final document.

    The contract documents are said to be the product of a collaborative development process with industry stakeholders to help ensure that users are working with balanced documents.
