APHCC Of Texas Announces Accomplishments At Meeting

DALLAS - The Associated Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (APHCC) of Texas recently listed some of its accomplishments in 2004-2005 at the group's annual meeting in Dallas in mid-June.

  • Sixty new contractor members since July 1, 2004 for a total of 225 contractor members.

  • Workers Comp Trust started on January 1, 2005, making APHCC one of the first three groups approved by the Texas Department of Insurance.

  • One hundred sixty-one billboards put up in April-May in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.

  • Eleven thousand students taught in Plumbing Continuing Education.

  • Eighteen scholarships awarded by APHCC Charitable & Educational Foundation.

  • Jo Wagner elected as national PHCC vice president and Bill Jones serves as national director on the PHCC board.

  • Nancy Jones and Eddie Holub traveled to Connecticut to testify to the legislature on behalf of the Connecticut PHCC continuing education program.

  • APHCC developed its online correspondence course.

    In addition APHCC members were given a legislative update from the 79th regular session of the Texas legislature. Highlights included:

  • Enforcement of contracts with local government entities (HB 2039).

  • Reform of the procedures to resolve disputed claims with the state (HB 1940).

  • Asbestos and silica litigation reform (SB 15).

  • Measure banning local government entities from going into the construction industry (HB 1826).

  • Workers' compensation reform (HB 7).
