A.O. Smith to Open Production Center

MILWAUKEE, WI — A.O. Smith Corp. has announced plans to open a new MOD-Plus production center at its plant in McMinnville, TN. According to the company, the new facility should meet customer demand for special industrial electrical motors on a fast-track basis. Also, the center is designed to enable A.O. Smith to modify any of its general-purpose 1-to 400-integral horsepower (IHP) motors for a broad range of commercial and industrial applications and offer the ability to ship within three to 10 days from order, the company said.

The new MOD-Plus production center will build upon the company’s line of IHP motors, featuring open and closed a/c motors in sizes ranging from 143 frame to 449 frame in aluminum, steel, or cast iron construction; as well as E-PACT and premium efficiency motors.

A.O. Smith expects the new center to be fully operational in November 2001.
