Coleman

Model: Echelon™ split system, AC8B

Footprint (inches): 39.5 by 42 by 34

Serviceability: A full-end, full-service access panel with a handle provides access to internal components, and a slide-down control compartment and angled service valves reduce installation time and costs.

Technical support: First level of support provided by the distributor. Factory support is available to distributors and dealers by calling 877-874-7378 (877-UPG-SERV) 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Eastern.

Technical materials: A full technical guide for Coleman 18 SEER Echelon air conditioners, including wiring diagrams, sizes, parts, accessories, part numbers, and installation instructions, is available at www.upgnet.com or by request.

Noise reduction: The Coleman WhisperDrive™ system uses a swept-wing fan design adapted from aeronautic and defense engineering, isolated compressor compartment, composite base pan, and two-stage compressor design to provide up to four times’ quieter operation. Air flows smoothly off the fan blade, reducing turbulence and sound.

IAQ equipment: Compatible with a complete line of Coleman residential IAQ products, including ventilation systems, UV air treatment systems, electronic and media air cleaners, and whole-house humidifiers.

Thermostat compatibility: A wide selection of compatible thermostats is available to provide optimum performance and features for any installation.

Replacement compatibility: Shares replacement parts with other models.

Additional: Scroll compressor technology, two-stage design and WhisperDrive system help ensure reduced noise, even comfort levels, and improved energy efficiency. A full-service access panel makes maintenance easier, and a powder-paint topcoat applied over a baked-on primer results in a finish that provides 33 percent greater durability than conventional powder-coated finishes.

Warranties: Five-year limited parts and 10-year limited compressor. An optional premium system warranty offers limited lifetime compressor and 10-year parts when an 18 SEER Echelon air conditioner is matched with an approved Echelon furnace or a Unitary Products’ air handler and coil.

Special installation requirements: None.

Model: LX Series split system, CCJD

Footprint (inches): From 38 by 23.5 by 23.5 to 30 by 29 by 29 (13 SEER models)

Serviceability: Compact footprint makes it easier to install where space is limited. Fully exposed refrigerant connections and a single panel covering the electrical controls make for easier servicing of the unit. The microchannel coil is 30 percent lighter than conventional coils, enhancing serviceability.

Technical support: First level of support is provided by the distributor. Factory support available to distributors and dealers by calling 877-874-7378 (877-UPG-SERV) 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Eastern.

Technical materials: A full technical guide for LX Series air conditioners, including wiring diagrams, sizes, parts, accessories, part numbers and installation instructions, is available at www.upgnet.com or by request.

Noise reduction: Upward airflow carries normal operating noise away from the living area. The rigid top panel isolates motor sound, and the isolator-mounted compressor and rippled fins of the condenser coil muffle normal fan motor and compressor operating sounds. The 14.5 SEER model incorporates a compressor blanket and swept-wing fan blade for even quieter operation.

IAQ equipment: Compatible with a complete line of Coleman residential IAQ products, including ventilation systems, UV air treatment systems, electronic and media air cleaners and whole-house humidifiers.

Thermostat compatibility: Compatible thermostats help provide optimum performance and features for any installation.

Replacement compatibility: Shares replacement parts with other models.

Additional: The unit’s compact footprint is the smallest in the industry, the company says. The unit features a microchannel coil with enhanced heat transfer characteristics, enabling it to achieve desired performance levels with less coil surface area. It also uses 50 percent less refrigerant.

Warranties: Five-year limited parts, five-year limited compressor (13 SEER); five-year limited parts, 10-year limited compressor (14.5 SEER).

Special installation requirements: None.

Technical materials: Installation-operation-maintenance, service manual, and parts list can be e-mailed as PDFs or sent as hard copies. Also available online to distributors.

Noise reduction: Exceptionally quiet because the dc compressor runs mostly at low speed, which also reduces vibration; high-tech fan on indoor unit moves large amounts of air at low speeds for quieter operation.

IAQ equipment: Triple filtration: electrostatic, antifungal, and deodorizing filters.

Thermostat compatibility: Built-in thermostat can be set using the wireless remote (included) or wired controls.

Replacement compatibility: Many parts across the V Series, especially 9,000-24,000 Btuh, are shared; others are unique.

Additional: Inverter technology saves 40 percent or more on energy consumption by matching compressor speed to demand; provides precise temperature control and continuous dehumidification (cooling mode) because unit runs constantly, although mostly at “economy” speed to maintain temperature efficiently. Cooling mode functions even when the outdoor temperature reaches 0°F.
