DAMASCUS, Md. — Women in HVACR is sponsoring a scholarship program for graduating female high school seniors.

The group has two $500 scholarships available to females who are preparing to enter the HVACR industry through a technical college, trade school, or relating degree in a four-year college. Candidates must have a grade-point average 2.0 or above and must complete an essay of at least 500 words addressing: What motivated you to seek a career in the HVACR industry?

Applicants will also be asked to discuss their long-term professional goals relevant to the profession; describe how a career in HVACR will provide a positive impact to their professional goals and career path; explain the importance of their major in today’s society;. and what do they feel are the most important issues facing the field today?

Candidates must send a completed essay and a GPA transcript, along with a cover letter that includes the applicant’s full name, address, and name of high school to womeninhvacr@gmail.com or Women in HVACR, P.O. Box 386, Damascus, MD 20872.

Applications are due June 1 with winners being announced by the end of June. A letter of acceptance must be presented prior to the award being dispersed.
