Feb. 6, 2013: ACCA Names Its Commercial Contractor of the Year
ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has named Ivey Mechanical, Kosciusko, Miss., as its 2013 Commercial Contractor of the Year.
“Again this year we had a number of innovative commercial contractors apply for this award,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. “Our judges have an extremely tough decision each year when they pick the recipient of this award. This year’s winner, Ivey Mechanical, illustrates the characteristics that all of the best commercial contractors in the country have in common.”
Ivey Mechanical will be presented the award on March 1 at the closing general session of ACCA 2013 in Orlando, Fla.
ACCA noted that, over the past 66 years, Ivey Mechanical has grown from a small single-location, primarily residential company, to a multi-location, regional commercial contracting firm. And while the growth wasn’t without pains, diversifying its services and expanding across the Southeast region has helped the company achieve a new level of success.
The other key factor to the company’s success, said ACCA, is the standard operating procedures that it has made into what is known as the “Ivey Red Book.” This manual lays out the way the company does business, step-by-step. The Red Book has been a part of the company for over 25 years and has been tweaked along the way to keep up with the times, but the basics remain the same. This ensures employees give each customer the same quality experience, with minor adjustments to cater to customers’ wants and needs. And to piggyback on the success of the Red Book, Ivey is now producing the “Ivey Blue Book,” which outlines the Ivey service process step-by-step.
“Ivey is honored to be recognized as the ACCA 2013 Commercial Contractor of the Year,” said Keith Paton, vice president of service. “This recognition is not only a testament to Ivey Mechanical Company’s investment in the industry but also an acknowledgement of the many co-workers that strive each day to be ‘People You Can Rely On.’”
