Residential Boiler Standards Begin Sept. 1
One critical prescriptive requirement involves an automatic means for adjusting water temperature. All gas, oil, and electric hot water residential boilers must adjust the temperature of the water supplied by the boiler to ensure that an incremental change in inferred heat load produces a corresponding incremental change in temperature of the water supplies. In particular, a boiler for which an automatic means for adjusting water temperature is required shall be operable only when the automatic means is installed.
All gas, oil-fired, and electric hot water boilers that have their manufacturing process completed on or after Sept. 1, 2012 will be required to meet the prescriptive requirement of an automatic means of adjusting water temperature.
