gas furnaceThe Tempstar® SmartComfort® 96 percent-plus AFUE gas furnace line is available. The SmartComfort® VC 97 features a modulating gas valve, variable-speed ECM blower motor, 97 percent AFUE, and stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchangers. The SmartComfort VT 96 is a two-stage variable-speed model at 96 percent AFUE with a variable-speed high-efficiency ECM blower, and stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchangers. The SmartComfort IIX 96 is a two-stage, 96 percent AFUE model featuring a high-efficiency Xtra SEER ECM blower. According to the manufacturer, the high-efficiency ECM blower can deliver an increase in cooling efficiency that can translate to a higher SEER rating when paired with select Tempstar condensing units and evaporator coils as compared to the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute’s coil-only rating. The SmartComfort DLX 96 single-stage Xtra SEER model achieves 96 percent AFUE. These furnaces are 35 inches tall for easier installation in tight places. They feature a rotating inducer elbow for easy setup. The four-way multiposition design includes downflow installation with pipes routed inside the cabinet. A new condensate trap stays inside the furnace in all positions. Cabinet and door edges are folded and hemmed for easier handling. The gas furnaces feature large, one-quarter-turn knobs for easy door installation and removal. The blower assembly is mounted on rails for easy, upfront installation and removal. The furnaces are available in heating capacities from 40 to 120 MBtuh and cooling capacities from 1½ up to 5 tons.
