Nov. 1, 2011: Delmar Releases New Reference Guide on Jobsite First Aid

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Delmar, part of Cengage Learning, has introduced its Contractor’s Edge series with the publication of its first installment, Jobsite First Aid: A Field Guide for the Construction Industry.

According to Delmar, Jobsite First Aid provides information to better prepare contractors, construction workers, and other jobsite personnel for possible emergency situations. Whether dealing with a minor burn or a life-threatening event, Delmar said the book provides a clear, systematic approach to safety training. It outlines specific methods for readers to follow in the event of an accident, which go above and beyond the basic initial treatment for first aid. The reference guide also includes detailed preparedness information that companies can use to help prevent jobsite accidents and steps to regain control and return the jobsite back to normal in its aftermath.

“In 2010, the construction industry accounted for more fatal work injuries than any other sector, which is why it is so important for all workers to be knowledgeable of best practices in first aid on a construction jobsite,” said Greg Clayton, vice president, technology professional business unit, Delmar. “We know that often, the first responders are the other employees on the job, and the time in between when an accident happens and when emergency responders arrive is critical, leaving these jobsite workers with the responsibility of minimizing problems and maximizing safety. Jobsite First Aid: A Field Guide for the Construction Industry is a crucial reference guide for any jobsite in the event that an unexpected emergency arises on the job.”

For enhanced comprehension, procedures are accompanied by detailed illustrations and images that supplement the how-to descriptions of various tasks. Delmar said Jobsite First Aid was designed specifically for quick reference, and facilitates quick and easy access to important information. It is packaged to easily fit into any toolbox, glove box, or desk drawer, so that it can be easily accessed when needed, and was created using durable laminated materials, making it suitable for use on jobsites.

Jobsite First Aid: A Field Guide for the Construction Industry is the first book to be released in Delmar’s Contractor’s Edge series, with more titles to be announced in the coming months.
