BOULDER, Colo., and PROVO, Utah — Vivint™, one of the largest home automation companies in North America, is partnering with Tendril to connect Vivint Go!Control smart home devices with Tendril’s home energy management technology. Vivint will license Tendril Connect™, its cloud platform for use in the energy industry as well as Tendril Energize™, a suite of applications including a home energy management web portal, to provide consumers with insight into their energy usage and how to control consumption based on their specific goals.

“Tendril is a true innovator in the energy arena, and its powerful cloud-based platform was a natural choice for us because of its extensibility,” said Alex Dunn, COO, Vivint. “There really is no other platform with proven success in the market that can connect our growing customer base with actionable information, making their smart home systems even more powerful.”

For Vivint customers who already have a Go!Control in-home display, the Tendril Energize web portal will be available later this year. Beginning in early 2012, Tendril Connect will be integrated into the next-generation Go!Control panel, which is manufactured by 2GIG Technologies®. Go!Control is said to create a streamlined network that connects all of a home’s smart systems: HVAC, security, lighting, small appliances, and other areas.

According to a study by the Electric Power Research Institute, consumers who have the ability to monitor their energy use in real-time reduce their electricity consumption by as much as 20 percent.

“This is a major milestone in the deployment of our cloud-based platform,” said Adrian Tuck, CEO Tendril. “Tendril Connect, well known in the energy industry, will now be part and parcel of Vivint’s home automation solutions, bringing Tendril into a completely new, yet adjacent, market. After just a short time in the market, they already have more than 70,000 customers with smart energy devices in their homes. We’re thrilled to help Vivint add even more value to their smart home offerings.”

“We are committed to providing consumers with information and tools that give them more control over energy usage in their home — no small task, but one in which we and Tendril believe,” said Tanguy Serra, president, Vivint Energy. “Tendril’s cloud platform, with its industry-leading analytics, will empower our customers in a way never before possible, helping them improve energy efficiency, and reduce energy costs, through home automation.”
