Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, will save $15 million in energy costs through a strategic business agreement with Johnson Controls L.P. The partnership, which was designed to confront infrastructure renewal and enhance classroom and research environments, will also address $12.3 million in deferred maintenance over a 19-year period. Completion of the project is scheduled for June 2005. Two engineering co-op students from the university will be part of the Johnson Controls team and will help implement a new central cooling plant, heating plant, distribution system, and lighting and air quality improvements in student and academic buildings on campus.
