SAN ANTONIO — With little relief from record-breaking heat in sight, San Antonio’s Friedrich Air Conditioning donated 100 of its Energy Star™-rated air conditioners to area non-profit organizations. It is the single largest product donation in the company’s 126-year history, according to Brian Campbell, vice president of sales and marketing.

The first unit was installed at the home of a single mother who recently suffered from heat stroke and had to be hospitalized. Elisabeth Rodriguez said she and her six-year-old daughter have “really been suffering this summer.”

“This wonderful donation from Friedrich will make our lives much easier,” said Rodriguez, who has diabetes.

Campbell said, “It has come to our attention that hundreds of San Antonio’s most vulnerable children, the elderly, and other individuals in need would suffer less from the dangerous heat if only they had a few hours of cool air each day.

“San Antonio has been good to Friedrich, so on behalf of all of our employees, I am proud to present our air conditioners to some of the city’s most highly valued and respected charities for distribution to the needy.”

Many of the recipients will be eligible for the CPS energy program for low-income individuals. Friedrich’s high-efficiency air conditioners also may qualify them for rebates which can be applied to their electricity bills.

Non-profits receiving the units include:

• SAMMinistries

• Christian Senior Services (Meals on Wheels)

• Haven for Hope

• Any Baby Can

• St. Vincent de Paul

• Merced Housing Texas
