CONYERS, Ga. — Hill Phoenix received a 2008-2009 GreenChill Advanced Refrigeration Partnership “Distinguished Partner Award” from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during the Food Marketing Institute’s Sustainability Summit in San Francisco. The EPA awarded GreenChill Distinguished Partner Awards to recognize companies that show extraordinary commitment to the GreenChill mission to reduce supermarkets’ impact on climate change and the Earth’s ozone layer.

“GreenChill’s advanced refrigeration systems manufacturers have a very important role in the GreenChill Partnership,” said Keilly Witman, manager, EPA GreenChill Partnership. “As systems manufacturers, they have to be at the forefront of environmental innovation in the industry, so they can bring the best environmental solutions to supermarkets.”

As a founding partner of the EPA’s GreenChill Advanced Refrigeration Partnership, an initiative in which companies pledge to voluntarily go above and beyond regulatory requirements to protect the ozone layer and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Hill Phoenix helps promote advanced technologies, strategies, and practices that reduce refrigerant charges and emissions of ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases.

The company has made significant strides in its refrigeration technology including several new ozone safe refrigeration technologies for supermarkets and grocery supercenters around the country. It has also made advancements in its Second Nature® refrigeration technology which now includes traditional propylene glycol medium temperature systems and newly developed medium and low temperature systems that utilize natural refrigerants to chill perishable products in supermarkets.
