ISL Members Honored at Summit 2009 Ceremony

DALLAS — International Service Leadership (ISL) held its annual awards ceremony during its Summit 2009 in Dallas. This year’s meeting was held jointly with National Comfort Institute (NCI). ISL is the newest member of the NCI family of companies, and according to the company, these awards were created to recognize outstanding achievement in a number of key areas. Awards were presented by Milton Baum, ISL president, and Bob Wilkins, ISL director of training.

Baker Distributing, a key partner in the ISL ContractorsOne vendor program was recognized as the 2008 Vendor Partner of the Year. Ron Mathias, general manager of Wighton’s in San Luis Obispo, Calif., accepted the Prolific Podmates award. ISL’s Portable On Demand Service (PODS) are small groups of five to six member companies that work together and support each other in implementation of ISL programs. Dale Nine of Homer Nine and Sons was the recipient of the Leader Board Leader award. He led the nation with the highest percentage of sales staff, service, and maintenance technicians, installers, and support staff ranked as top performers on the ISL Leader Board.

The ISL Rookie of the Year award went to Tom Kavounas of Albemarle Heating in Charlottesville, Va. This award recognizes a company in its first year of ISL membership that has made outstanding improvement in implementing ISL processes and procedures. Tom Spall of T.E. Spall & Sons, Carbondale, Pa., accepted the Best Utilization of Training award for best implementation and use of the training career path. He was also recognized for his work as a coach, helping other members achieve their training goals.

The final award of the evening, the Webbie, went to Mike Mindorff of M.A.R.C.H. Mechanical in Milton, Ontario. This award is for the company who best utilizes its Website for building business. In 2008 the M.A.R.C.H. Website attracted nearly 60,000 new hits.
