Johnson Controls Inc. recently reported on the results of a performance contract with Kanawha County Schools in West Virginia. According to the company, the project, which helped with facility and operation improvements, resulted in more than $2 million in savings over six years.

The project included installation of a district-wide computerized energy management network to operate equipment more efficiently, upgrades for energy-efficient lighting, and new heating and air-conditioning equipment. The school district is working with Johnson Controls to implement facility improvements that will be paid for during the 10-year contract through the generated energy savings.
