Conklin Metal Industries has opened its first Knoxville location in June 2020. Conklin, a leading distributor of all types of sheet metal and HVAC and duct-fabrication supplies, now has three locations in Tennessee and a total of 14 throughout the Southeast.

“We are excited to now have a local presence in Knoxville after many years of serving the market from our locations in Nashville and Atlanta,” says Robbie Thompson, president of Conklin Metal Industries. “The strength of the East Tennessee market and growing demand from our customers made it clear that it was time to open a Knoxville branch. Being in close proximity to our customers offers great advantages in service and frequency of delivery. We look forward to taking our service to the next level for our East Tennessee customers. We will work hard to significantly grow our business in Knoxville, Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City and other markets.”

The 40,000 square-foot Knoxville branch is located on Prosser Road in East Knoxville. Conklin stocks the largest selection of sheet metal and sheet metal forming machinery in the Southeast.

As a one-stop shop for every component used in the construction and installation of a commercial or residential HVAC duct system, Conklin’s customers include sheet metal contractors, mechanical contractors and HVAC contractors that specialize in service and replacement. Knoxville residents and long-time HVAC industry veterans Marshall Scott and Mike Monroe will serve as branch manager and territory sales manager, respectively.

Based in Atlanta, Conklin Metal Industries is a family-owned business employing over 200 people. The company’s founding dates back to 1874 in downtown Atlanta.

Conklin Tin Plate and Metal Co., the company’s name at the time, dominated the tin metal industry in Georgia at the turn of the 20th century. With the advent of air conditioning in the late 1930s, Conklin experienced increasing demand for sheet metal used to fabricate ductwork. The company currently ranks in the Top 50 of HVACR Distributors in the U.S.

Robbie Thompson and Harry Thompson IV represent the fourth generation of Thompson family leadership for the company.
