Air Movement and Control Association's free PDH-eligible webinar on louvers, dampers types

October 17, 2019

On Oct. 23 from 2-3 p.m. ET, Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International will present “Update on Codes, Standards, and Certifications for Severe-Duty Louvers and Fire/Smoke Dampers,” the latest in its series of free professional-development-hour- (PDH-) eligible webinars.

Headlining the webinar, which will be presented in conjunction with ASHRAE Journal, will be James K. Smardo of the AMCA Louver Marketing Task Force, who will discuss code requirements for louvers in hurricane-prone regions and how to protect buildings and occupants through specification of third-party-tested and certified products, and Marty Gissel of the AMCA Fire and Smoke Damper Subcommittee, who will discuss changes in the 2019 editions of NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives, and NFPA 105, Standard for Smoke Door Assemblies and Other Opening Protectives, allowing remote periodic testing of life-safety dampers and how remote testing can significantly reduce costs and improve safety. They will be joined by Josh Parent, AMCA associate director, business development, who will give a short presentation explaining AMCA’s role in the air-systems industry. Scott Arnold, AMCA manager of industry content, will serve as moderator.

“Update on Codes, Standards, and Certifications for Severe-Duty Louvers and Fire/Smoke Dampers” is sponsored by Belimo, Greenheck, NCA, Pottorff, and Ruskin. It is worth one PDH through Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP).
