Munch’s Supply: 'We are not looking to simply change things for the sake of change'

By Emell Derra Adolphus
March 28, 2019

Munch’s Supply's recent aquisition of Comfort Air Distributing and its three Colorado branches expanded the company’s geographic footprint to 27 locations in nine states. But the strategy behind the purchase isn't about geography, says CEO Robert Munch.

"It just happened that this particular opportunity was out west," he says.

Comfort Air Distributing will continue to operate under the Comfort Air Distributing name, offering Rheem heating and air conditioning equipment. It will also continue to serve Colorado and 13 Wyoming counties out of branches in Denver, Centennial and Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"The Comfort Air Team will be developing a business strategy and identifying those things that will bring the most value to the customers and to the business," says Munch. "Our job will be to support and guide the team through this process. We are in week two of the acquisition, so it is too early to be announcing the changes as we are still formulating the plan. I would expect the customers will start to see the results of these investments throughout the year and into 2020."

The idea is not to implement change for the sake of change, he explains.

"Throughout this process, as with any acquisition we complete, is to make this as seamless to the customers and employees as possible. We will be providing a menu of technology and resources that the Comfort Air leaders can review, then determine what will bring the most value to their market," says Munch. "It is an exciting time to be at Comfort Air, and we look forward to working with the team to build on the great foundation that is in place."

Dave Schrock, executive vice president of Comfort Air Distributing, said in a press release announcing the news, “We are excited to find a company with similar values that is focused on preserving our family culture. It was important for us to find a partner who will care about our employees as much as we do.”
