Arkema Inc. sponsors Women in HVACR association

The organization also signs on to support ASHRAE scholarship fund for women in engineering.

March 11, 2019

Arkema Inc. becomes a sponsor for Women in HVACR association and supports ASHRAE scholarship fund for women in engineering. Women in HVACR is a non-profit association dedicated to the growth of Women in the HVAC industry. Their initiative is to enhance the industry workforce through education, mentoring, and networking opportunities that will support and empower women currently in the HVACR industry. Women in HVACR offers female employees opportunities to advance personally and professionally as well build eminence for organizations in the HVACR industry.

"Being part of this program is important to us as a member of the HVACR industry with a strong commitment to support gender diversity in the workplace, both as a matter of principle and as part of our corporate social responsibility program. Becoming a sponsor of the Women in HVACR organization is great step in providing the network of support for women already in or entering the industry.” says Tony O’Donovan, regional group president of the Fluorochemicals business unit in Arkema Inc.

In addition, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), through its Philadelphia chapter, has established a scholarship in honor of Arkema Inc.’s  Debbie Kennoy, a senior chemist and regulatorry expert, who passed away in September 2018.

"Debbie represented Arkema Inc. at ASHRAE for more than 20 years and was highly respected for her knowledge and willingness to help other members,"  says O’Donovan. "The scholarship will be earmarked to support women in engineering from the Philadelphia area, a great tribute to Debbie."
