Recycling group awards HVAC market wholesaler
Location reclaimed most mercury thermostats in competition
Thermostat Recycling Corp. named HVAC market wholesaler Johnstone Supply of Rockford, Illinois, its top mercury recycler of 2014.
The company recycled 1,865 thermostats, keeping 15 pounds of mercury out of the environment. The store accounted for 12 percent of the HVAC sakes thermostats recycled in the state, the recycling group said.
Johnstone was recognized by Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner. It received a plaque from TRC commemorating the achievement. It has been recycling thermostats since 2000.
