Alpena Community College instructor Roy Smith has been named Klein Tool’s Instructor of the Year.

The sheet metal forming toolmaker picked the Michigan resident from six finalists. He teaches courses in the college’s utility program, which includes fields such as electrical and HVAC construction.

“Roy Smith has been an instructor for 20 years,” said Tom Barton, product marketing manager for Klein Tools. “His knowledge and skill from years of experience and his dedication to building relationships with both his students and the industry have gained the respect of many.”

He was awarded a total of $1,000  cash for winning and being a finalist, as well as $1,000 in Klein tools for the school. He students also received back-to-school kits.
