Trane Gears Products to ASHRAE Standard

LA CROSSE, WI — Trane has announced that it will offer products that meet the new American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)/ Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Standard 90.1-1999. The standard will go into effect on October 29, 2001.

“With energy-efficiency improve-ment in mind, Trane decided to offer products that meet the new standard immediately,” said Dave Pannier, president of the Trane Unitary Products Group.

The new standard sets minimum requirements to promote the principles of effective, energy-conserving design for buildings and building systems. Mandatory requirements for hvac systems include mechanical equipment efficiencies, controls, construction, insulation, and completion.

Massachusetts, Oregon, California, and Washington have all incorporated the new standard in their state energy codes. The standard has also been adopted by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and is referenced in the 2001 supplement of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
