MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) SkillTech Academy's Residential Radiant Hydronics Design training program, introduced to the Canadian HVACR industry as part of the 2004 fall course schedule, has been a major success, said the organization. Six sessions were delivered in Calgary, Alberta; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Ottawa; and Toronto where 97 industry professionals participated and obtained HRAI certification. Demand for the training was so great in Toronto that the first session was filled within three days and two additional courses were added to deal with the overflow.

The three-day Residential Radiant Hydronics Design certification program instructs participants in the proper design of basic residential boiler systems and radiant floor heating systems and covers different floor systems, floor coverings, tube spacing, loop lengths, and fluid temperatures. Pipe sizing, control selection, and sizing of expansion tanks also are addressed.

SkillTech Academy will offer the course in Fredericton, New Brunswick; Barrie, London, Sudbury, and Toronto, Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Regina, Saskatchewan; and Victoria, British Columbia for the 2005 winter/spring course schedule, and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) again will provide financial assistance at a rate of $200 per person to those who attend.
