Siemens Building Technologies, HVAC Products Division: VARIABLE-FREQUENCY DRIVE

The SED2 (Siemens Easy Drive) variable-frequency drive has the company’s SBT P1 protocol and Johnson Controls’ NCI N2 (Metasys®) communications built in. This drive also offers direct connection with other networking protocols, such as Lon and Modbus devices, through optional interface modules. The company states that the drive seamlessly integrates with the APOGEE brand of controllers. According to the manufacturer, features include extremely low harmonics without the use of external devices, pump controller with cascading functionality, belt failure detection, multilevel programming, essential services mode (smoke purge), and digital and analog I/O, including direct Ni 1000 RTD sensor level inputs.
