SAN DIEGO, CA — Sempra Energy Solutions has been awarded an energy outsourcing contract with the U.S. Army’s Southeast Regional Medical Command (SERMC). The $24 million contract enables SERMC to reallocate its resources in a unified strategic energy plan to better manage the energy needs of the facilities.

Measures to be implemented over the 13-year contract include improvements to the lighting systems, building automation systems, hvac systems, electric motors, steam traps, and building envelopes. According to Sempra, in addition to facility improvement, SERMC will realize over $1.7 million in savings annually.

The contract was awarded under the Department of Energy’s Super Energy Performance Contracting Program. Under the contract, energy-efficiency services will be provided to the medical-treatment facilities at Fort Benning, Fort Jackson, Fort Gordon, Fort Rucker, and Fort Stewart, all located in the southeastern United States.
