This update estimates that 290 chillers previously operating on CFC refrigerants were converted or re-placed in Canada during 2004. This represents a 4.3-percent increase in conversions/replacements compared to 2003. It brings the total number of converted or replaced chillers from 1,542 (in 2003) to 1,842 and the rate of conversion/replacements from 28.3 percent (2003) to 33.6 percent.
