CHICAGO, IL — The Construction Institute of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Chicago (MCA) and the Piping Education Council (PEC) has announced the addition of a certificate in Project Management for its educational program. The new program is designed to be attained in two years and allows project managers to earn a certificate of completion by taking certain courses in the CI Project Manager track.

“There are eight credits as part of a core curriculum along with four elective credits for a total of 12 credits to earn the certificate,” explained MCA executive vice president Stephen Lamb.

The core curriculum for the certificate program includes the Institute’s Fundamentals for Project Managers course, which covers documentation, change orders, job costs, and more.

Four electives must be chosen from six courses, including: Written Com-munication Skills for Project Managers, Basic Negotiating Skills for Project Managers, Advanced Negotiating Skills for Project Managers, Mechanical Scheduling, Time Management, and Managing Subcontractors.
