Plumbing and Heating Industry Rides to Build Homes

TORONTO - Members of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) have organized the first CIPH Ride for Habitat. Co-sponsored by CIPH and Habitat for Humanity Canada, this motorcycle ride will take place in Ontario on Sunday, Sept. 19, to raise funds for the charity.

The Ride for Habitat was spearheaded by three members of CIPH: Sean Giberson (Taco Canada Ltd), Jeff House (Jess-Don Dunford Ltd.), and Simon Blake (Plumbing & HVAC).

“There are a lot of industry members who ride,” Giberson said, “so we’re hoping to get at least 50 out this year. And of course the ride is open to anyone, so members can invite their friends to participate, too.”

“We’ve got a great route,” House added. He created the route for the inaugural ride. “We start in Vaughan and will go through Terra Cotta, Cataract, Orangeville, Loretto, Bond Head, Bradford, finishing up in Newmarket. There will be lots of beautiful scenery and some nice hills and curves to make the ride interesting.”

Blake, a vintage bike collector noted that “September 12-18th is CIPH’s Habitat for Humanity Week, so the ride is a great way to get involved in the fundraising for a great cause.”

Registration is $50 per person (for riders and passengers). Each participant will receive a $35 charitable tax receipt and a $15 coupon for lunch on Sept. 19 at the Roast of Sharon (formerly Shoeless Joe’s), in Newmarket, which is the end point of the Ride.

Registration and information about how to encourage friends and associates to “sponsor” riders is available online at https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/startup.aspx?eventid=56612.
