FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Plumbing-Heating Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC) has picked the winners of its 2002 International Plumbing Apprenticeship Contest, which took place at the National Trade Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada on Nov. 1.

Fourteen contestants were judged on their ability to rough in water supply and drain lines, as well as a variety of fixtures. The winners are:

First place: Joseph Paramo II, Redding, CA. Paramo is enrolled in the PHCC-GSA Plumbing Unilateral Apprenticeship Committee Training Program and was sponsored by Fred McCullough of Crescent Plumbing. Paramo was awarded more than $3,000 in cash and prizes. Second place: Mike Zarn, Virginia Beach, VA. He is enrolled in the Southeastern Plumbing & Mechanical Professionals of Virginia Program and was sponsored by Elite Plumbing. Zarn was awarded over $2,000 in cash and prizes.

Third place: Scott McCants, Norfolk, VA. He is enrolled in the Southeastern Plumbing & Mechanical Professionals of Virginia Program and was sponsored by Jim Steinle of Atomic Plumbing. McCants received nearly $2,000 in cash and prizes.
