WASHINGTON, DC — The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has made available an online resource for consumers to find energy-efficient air conditioners and other appliances. The guide is meant to provide a nonbiased energy-saving and cost-cutting resource for consumers. The site also includes the “Consumer Guide to Home Energy Savings.”

“Consumers don’t need to feel overwhelmed by the debate raging about an energy crisis and what they can do to conserve energy, reduce their bills, and protect our environment,” said Jennifer Thorne, coauthor of the Consumer Guide. “Replacing an old air conditioner with a new, high-efficiency model, for example, can cut your electricity bill by as much as one-half compared to a typical air conditioner purchased a decade ago.”
