Oct. 7, 2004: New ACCA Technical Bulletin Analyzes Blower Performance

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has introduced a new technical bulletin for contractors on its Web site.

The reference bulletin, "Blower Performance - Residential Equipment," provides information about the types of centrifugal fans, or blowers, that are associated with residential HVAC equipment. Generally, the system designer does not have the opportunity to select the blower because it is supplied by the manufacturer. However, the bulletin provides detailed instructions to verify compatibility and correlating duct system design to the performance of the blower.

Topics covered also include altitude and temperature corrections, inlet and discharge conditions, blower noise, and operating speed.

The bulletin is available for ACCA members to download at www.acca.org/tech/.
