The design of the new, re-engineered ArcticAire air-cooled portable air conditioner features backward-curved motorized impellers in place of squirrel-cage blowers. The impellers allow the air conditioning units to move large volumes of air at a whisper, states the company. Each unit is equipped with six evaporator fan speeds that automatically lower RPMs as the room temperature approaches setpoint. Other features include a built-in electronic hour meter to record compressor “on” time, an electronic control system, a moisture control system that manages high humidity levels by cycle-timing the compressor, and a temperature control range from 55 to 85 degrees F.
