NANTICOKE, PA — Former Pennsylvania state Rep. Stanley Jarolin, who didn’t miss a legislative session in more than 16 years of service, died May 13 of a heart attack. He was 67.

Mr. Jarolin, a unionized heating and plumbing contractor for nearly 40 years, was elected to the state House in 1982. He served eight terms until he was defeated in the Democratic primary in 1998.

Mr. Jarolin was fishing that day when the boat took on water and capsized, causing Jarolin and a friend to go into the water. Both men made it to shore and the friend went for help, but Mr. Jarolin had died of a heart attack by the time emergency workers arrived.
